Abstract

Motion control of valve controlled hydraulically actuated systems may be improved by compensating directly for the nonlinear relationship between valve displacement, differential pressure across the valve and the flow rate. In this paper a method is described in which such a relationship can be obtained from a relatively small experimental data set for a valve with an orifice of unknown configuration through the application of a modified discharge coefficient in theturbulent orifice equation.
